You’ll play a crucial role in providing essential legal advice and support to families navigating the SEN system, ensuring children receive proper education and care.

Key Requirements:

  • Degree in law or equivalent, preferably with experience or keen interest in SEN law.
  • Previous legal experience, ideally in education law, public rights law, or related fields.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex legal matters clearly.
  • Empathetic, supportive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and advocacy for children and families.

Desired Qualifications/Skills:

  • Additional qualifications or experience in relevant legal areas.
  • Familiarity with the SEN system and related legal frameworks.
  • Experience in mentoring or training others in legal matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice and support on SEN law to families, ensuring access to necessary provisions for their children.
  • Manage and support advice centres across the UK, collaborating with volunteers to provide assistance.
  • Offer guidance through a helpline, handling complex inquiries with sensitivity and understanding of SEN law.
  • Prepare and represent clients in appeals and tribunals, advocating for children’s rights and needs.
  • Conduct mentoring and training sessions for volunteers to improve the quality of advice provided.
  • Assist in expanding the reach of advice centres to support more families nationwide.
